SUPERINTENDENT APPLICATION

Hickman County Board of Education in Clinton, Kentucky is seeking an innovative and motivational leader with a demonstrated track record of improving achievement and outcomes as its next superintendent.  The successful candidate should preferably have district level administrative experience and be an instructional leader within a current school district.  It is important for the candidate to have the ability to effectively communicate with the staff and community in order to achieve district goals as well as be visible to the community.  The candidate should possess strong morals, ethics and integrity.  Skills in budgeting, school finances, buildings and grounds, along with working knowledge of the Kentucky Education System are required.  Must hold or be eligible for Kentucky superintendent’s certification.  

Hickman County Public Schools is located in far Western Kentucky, approximately fifty miles West of Paducah and serves a population of students in grades preschool through twelve.  The student population of approximately 750 is housed in two schools.  
Interested candidates must submit an application package consisting of: 1) Letter of Interest; 2) Resume; 3) District Application 4) Copy of Kentucky Superintendent Certification or Letter of Verification from the Educational Professional Standards Board that the candidate will be eligible to hold the position at the time of hire; 5) The names, addresses and telephone numbers (home and work) of five professional references; 6) Written responses to the set of questions and situations listed on the application.

Special Education Department

The Hickman County School System ensures that all exceptional children who reside within this district and who are between the ages of three and twenty-one will have available to them a free and appropriate public education, including special education and related services to meet their unique needs. This district also ensures that the rights of exceptional children and their parents will be protected as required by P.L. 94-142 Education of the Handicap Act, P.L. 101-476 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and P.L. 99-457 Preschool Handicap Act. These services and procedural safeguards will be provided in accordance with the requirements of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, Kentucky Administrative Regulations, Federal Regulations, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The confidentiality procedures will apply to the records maintained on all children ages birth through twenty-one.

DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS NOTICE


In accordance with district procedures and records retention guidelines, Hickman County School District is required to maintain special education records for three (3) years after the date of the last activity. Therefore, the school district will destroy all records three years after graduation or three years after a student has exited a special education program. If you have reason to believe you will need these records at a later date, you must notify the Hickman County School District, that you want the records prior to the designated time for destruction. Please be aware that you may need information from the records for social security benefits or other purposes. .
