Potato Fun for Everyone-- Character Contest
The library is celebrating I Love to Read Week by having a decorated potato contest of your favorite book character. Read a great book together and create a fun character ! (Examples of Potato Projects
Potatoes may be dropped off at the library from Thursday, February 27-Monday, March 2.
1. ABSOLUTELY NO CARVED/PUNCTURED POTATOES!!! Carved potatoes rot, attract bugs, and smell. PLEASE use glue to attach items and not puncture with toothpicks or pipe cleaners, etc. Potatoes may be painted, etc. Let your creativity soar! You may choose to use other materials instead of or in addition to the potato such as styrofoam, egg cartons, plastic bottles, etc.
2. Potatoes should represent a favorite book or character. You must have the title and author of the book written on the entry form. **I would recommend getting the book information first before even starting to decorate the potato. READ the book as a family !
3. This is a home project and potatoes should be done mostly by the students but parents may assist. It would be a fun project to do as a whole family!
4. Do not write your name anywhere on the potato.
5. Potatoes will be judged according to the following categories: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, Staff Potatoes
6.. Contest Prizes will be awarded!
7. Potatoes will need to be taken home the afternoon of Friday, March 6th. Any Potato remaining on this day will be discarded.
We look forward to seeing your amazing character potatoes!! Have fun reading & decorating!
