TODAY

Miss HCHS Pageant

Club representatives/contestants need to stop by Mrs. Perkins’ room THIS WEEK at break to pick up an information handout. We also need representatives from FFA, FCA, EdRising, Beta Club, Falcon Friends, TAG Team, Student Council, and Military club. If you are a member of one of these clubs and would like to be a representative in the pageant, talk to your club sponsor and see Mrs. Perkins for more information.

Legislative Page Day

If any student is interested in representing the Family Resource Youth Services Center as a Legislative Page for a day in Frankfort, please see Mrs. Vickie at the Resource Center office (located next to Mrs. Perkins’ room). Applications are due this Friday, October 19th.

UPCOMING

Safe Schools Pledge

There is a link to the Anti-bullying Pledge on the top right page of our district website.  We are trying to get all students, staff, parents and community members to take the pledge since Safe Schools Week and Red Ribbon Week are next week.  Please take a moment to take the online pledge. 

FLIGHT will not meet October 22-25 due to staff attending a mandatory training. Please go home like normal for these dates.

Red Ribbon Week

October 22nd -26th is Red Ribbon Week.  The following activities are planned:

Door decorating contest between 7th period classes. Decorate your door with drug free messages.  There will be prizes for 1st place - pizza party, 2nd place - chips/drinks and 3rd place - candy treats!  Doors will be judged Tuesday, 7th period!

Drug free announcement every morning this week.

Find the red ribbons hidden around school, answer the question on the ribbon and turn them into the office for a treat.

Monday - Wear Red Day - “Celebrate life being drug free.”  Treats at break for those wearing red!  Group picture made of those wearing red.

Tuesday - Decade Day, Drugs are NEVER IN STYLE! - dress up in different decades 70’s, 80’s, 90’s. 

Wednesday - Be a Super Hero, Don’t Do Drugs! - Dress as your favorite super hero! Sign the pledge to be drug free at break!

Thursday- Team up Against Drugs!  Dress as your favorite sports team. 

Friday - Wacky Tacky Day - Don’t get wacked out over drugs!  Wear wacky clothes (inside/out, mismatched, etc.)

Falcon Friends

October lunches will be the 22nd for Group 2 and the 26th for Group 1.  November lunches will be the 19th for Group 2 and the 20th for Group 1.  December lunches will be the 10th for Group 1 and the 12th for Group 2.

Make-up Pictures

Picture makeup day will be Oct. 23rd. You can pick up picture forms in the office.

Beta Officers

There will be a Beta Officer meeting during HS lunch next Tuesday, October 23rd during HS lunch.  Location TBD.

MSU AIMS (freshmen, sophomores & juniors)

Applications for the Murray State University Adventures in Math and Science program are available in the guidance office.  The deadline to turn in the applications is next Wednesday, October 24th.  

FCA

FCA is hosting “Fields of Faith” event on Wednesday October 24th at 6pm on the track field at Hickman County High School. The event is for students from Hickman County, Fulton County, Fulton City, Carlisle County and Ballard County. The worship band will be “The Birdsongs” from Jacksboro, TN, and the guest speaker will be Dustin McClain. All students are invited to attend this event which is sponsored by the Four Rivers Foundation and each school’s FCA chapters.

FIELDS OF FAITH t-shirts are available to buy for $10.00 each. See Mr. Carr to get your shirt today.

Seniors 

If you have not picked up your packet for Cap and Gown order forms please see Ms. Suzy in the office.

Balfour will be here Oct. 29th. @ 2:00 to take up orders. You can also order online.

Seniors

Seniors need to turn in two senior pictures to the yearbook staff by November 2nd.

sports Pictures

Sports Picture Day is November 5th.

December 8th ACT

The deadline to register for the December 8th ACT is Friday, November 2nd.  Register online at www.actstudent.org.  The cost is $50.50.  Juniors and seniors on free/reduced lunch may request a fee waiver to cover the cost.  Seniors - the December ACT is one of your last chances to raise your score for scholarship purposes at most colleges/universities.  Juniors - if you haven’t taken the ACT yet it would be a good idea to try and take either the December or February ACT before you take it at our school in March for state testing.  Sophomores - if you are wanting to take dual credit courses as a junior you need to try to take either the December or February ACT to make the benchmark scores needed for college admissions.  

4-H Camp

Stuck in the Middle at 4-H Camp An exciting two-day, overnight camp where 4-Hers will participate in fun workshops and leadership roles, discover the outdoors, and learn about the many opportunities 4-H has to offer.  November 5-6 and cost $48.  For for information or to sign up contact Paula McCuiston at 270-653-2231

Juniors

Applications for the Governor’s Scholars Program are available online at www.gsp.ky.gov.  Applications must be turned into the guidance office by Friday, November 30th. 

BETA

Start saving your can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House! Beta is asking 4th period classes to battle it out on who can save the most can tabs.  The contest goes until December 7th.  The 4th period class with the most will win a pizza party.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Melissa Jackson or a Beta officer.

Any high school student with fun, creative handwriting please contact Mrs. Cayce Batts. She has an opportunity for community service hours.

Science Club

Remember to pick up your fundraiser packet from Mrs. LeClere.   

FCA

Join Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Dues are $15.00 and can be paid to Mr. Carr.

EdRising

Any paid EdRising members, if you haven’t signed up for Murray State Regional Educators Rising Conference on November 5th and would like to participate.  Please sign up with Ms. Brooks by the next Club Day to ensure your spot in the conference.
